American River Conservancy offers Shirttail Peak Walk
Local volunteer Keith Atwater will lead this hike along an old mining road which is part of the Folsom State Recreational Area. There are views of an old chrome mine and a mine shaft, native vegetation and animals. Placerville Police Department presents Defense Tactics for Women and now for younger girls
This four hour introductory course was designed for women who wish to develop their skills in danger recognition and basic self defense tactics, both physically and mentally. Female students at least 12 years old. Must be accompanied by an adult if  under 18 years old. Dress comfortably and wear tennis shoes. Square dance lessons begin Jan. 10, 2007 and continue each Wednesday throughout the August. American River Conservancy offers Kid's Discovery Day - Living with Lions
Emily Cunnison of the Mountain Lion Foundation will talk about the senses and natural history of mountain lions. There will be a discussion about kids and staying safe in mountain lion territory. The Mountain Lion Foundation & the American River Conservancy invite residents to explore the biology & behavior of mountain lions & the best practices to avoid conflicts with mountain lions. This marks the anniversary of James Marshall's momentous discovery of gold in the tailrace of Sutter's Mill. Pleasant Valley Grange will hold this dinner with all proceeds supporting their Packages & Prayers program. This program has sent more than 700 goodwill packages to U.S. troops stationed abroad.
