California and Nevada
have separate marriage license procedures
CALIFORNIA - has two types of
licenses.
California Confidential Marriage License: No blood test, no
waiting period. Applicants must be living together as husband
and wife and must be at least 18 years of age and have I.D.
The license must be issued in the same county in which the
ceremony takes place. The fee is $45. Licenses are available
at California wedding chapels and the El Dorado County Courthouse.
California Marriage License (traditional):
No blood tests, waiting period. The couple must be at least
18 years of age and have I.D. The fee is $50. The license
is available at any California county courthouse or the El
Dorado County Courthouse.
NEVADA - has one.
Nevada Marriage License: No blood
test, no waiting period. The fee is $42. Licenses are now
available at Stateline, Nev., on the South Shore. The couple
must be at least 18 years of age and have identification.
Couples ages 16-18 must have parents or legal guardians present
or bring notarized written permission.
