Hill and the fresh produce, crafts and baked goods offered. Take a drive and
bring the family to enjoy the abundance and beauty of the country landscape.
Pumpkins are ready and the kids will enjoy choosing their favorite from any
one of several pumpkin patches. Plan a trip to visit again in November and
choose and cut that perfect Christmas Tree from one of the many tree farms
located in the area.

grows ever more popular, parking and vehicle travel on narrow roads can be

Family Festival
October 11 & 12, 10am to 5 pm
Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park
For two days Coloma will appear much as it did in the 1850's. A living
history tent encampment with groups coming from all over California will
interpret gold rush history. There will be sawmill demonstrations and
re-enactments and much more fun for the family. Free to the public. Parking
fee may apply.
Johnny
Carsino and the Sophisticated Ladies
Johnny Carsino and the Sophisticated Ladies, a musical revue with dialogue
based loosely on Johnny Carson’s Tonight Show. This comedic musical variety
show is sure to tickle your funny bone and bring back memories of times gone
by. Join us for this delightfully entertaining season. Show times vary. This
starts in September and will run through October. All performances will be
held at the Veteran’s Memorial Building located at 130 Placerville Drive in
Placerville. Tickets are $15 general admission and $12 for students and
seniors. All Thursday performances are $12. Groups of 10 or more are $10

Safe Ways for the Kids to Enjoy Halloween
Halloween Carnival at Town Hall
This Halloween Carnival is sponsored by the Lions and Rotary Clubs for kids
10 and under to have a safe, fun time on Halloween. Town Hall, 549 Main St.,
Downtown Placerville from 7 to 9 pm. Free to the public. www.placerville-downtown.org

Trick or Treat on Main Street
Downtown
merchants will be giving out candy beginning at 4pm. The parade starts at the
City Hall parking lot and proceeds down historic Main St. and ends at Benham
Park where thee will be a costume contest and bonfire. Parade starts at
5:30pm Free to the public for more information call 530/672-3436.

weekend is when the Apple Hill season begins. Several Apple Hill and Farm
Trails members are open during the summer season and a few are open all
year. Get your copies of the 2003-04 Farm Trails Guide and the 2003-04
Cider Press (see left column) and see what's going on down at
the farm.

25th Annual Rock
& Gem Show

This is an annual event that has both vendors and displays from all over El
Dorado County and other counties. Come out and see if there is something
you like. Dealers & displays featuring fine gems, minerals, jewelry,
beads, lapidary material and fossils. Enjoy gold panning, demonstrations,
and many other activities.
