El Dorado County has great downhill and x-country skiing, boarding, snowmobiling,
and other snow sports.

El Dorado National
Forest
For recreational opportunities in the El Dorado National Forest, contact
the Forest Service’s Information Center at 3070 Camino Heights Drive,
Camino CA 95709. Winter hours are Thursday to Monday, 8am-5pm, call (530)

Skiing
and other Snow Sports
In the South Lake Tahoe area, try one of El Dorado County’s two
major ski areas, Heavenly Ski Resort or Sierra-at-Tahoe.
Heavenly Ski Resort

or call 1-800-2HEAVEN. Flying in? The Tahoe/Reno Airport and Sacramento
International Airport have numerous daily flights, with nonstop connections
from San Francisco, Los Angeles and other international gateways.

is four miles beyond Twin Bridges, just west of Echo Summit, tel: 530-659-7453.
FREE shuttle bus service
to and from South Lake Tahoe, and paying shuttle from Sacramento.
Shuttle Service from
Sacramento Via Folsom and Placerville
The Shuttle Service from Rancho Cordova to Sierra at Tahoe (both ways)
will run through March 30. Stops at: the Sacramento Sports Complex, the
Mountain and Surf Pro Shop, the McDonald’s at 297 Iron Point Road,
Folsom, and the McDonald’s in Placerville. Arrive Sierra 9:30 am,
Depart Sierra 4:30 pm. $17 round trip. Package prices available. Call

El Dorado
County History Museum
The museum, at 104, Placerville Drive, is packed with interesting
historical artifacts that reveal the county's history. Learn about
the high price of eggs in the 1850s or about the exploits of the
outlaw Black Bart. See fine baskets made by Native Americans. For

in March
The
last two days of "The Philadelphia Story" are March 1
and 2. There's a Superpipe competition at Sierra at Tahoe on March
1, sponsored by the Unites States Amateur Snowboard Association.
The Third Saturday Nitelife Art Walk is on March 15.

Community Business and Job Fair. This not-to-be-missed event is
on March 15 at the Fairgrounds on Placerville Drive. Bring in your

NOW for Spring and Summer Sports
There's great information on hiking, golfing, fishing, winter sports,
horseback riding, and even rafting, at visit-eldorado.com/rafting.html.
The rafting
companies are getting ready for their whitewater runs on the American
River in mid-April. Check out their sites for prices, itineraries,
events, discounts and deals. Look for half-day, full-day and two-day
excursions. Some rafting outfitters have camping facilities too,
and there is other lodging close by in Coloma, Lotus and Placerville.
