Placerville's 150th Birthday

May 13, 2004, 11 am to 1 pm
Mayor Kathy Lishman will officiate at the commemorative ceremony to celebrate Placerville's 150th birthday. The Thursday ceremony will be at the Bell Tower and will be followed with birthday cake for everyone.

May 15, 2004, 2 pm to 6 pm
Join the fun as Placerville closes Main Street to celebrate with antique fire trucks, a bucket brigade, games, demonstrations, entertainment, historic skits by the Hangtown Marshalls and others, miner's stew, stagecoach rides and much, much more. All of the fun won't stop there. There will be a street dance from 7 to 10 pm with live music. For more information call (530) 621-5885.


New!!! Tourism Training Program

June 7-17, 2004.
Monday - Friday and Monday - Thursday, 8 am to 5 pm. This is a great opportunity to learn entry-level skills for any business and particularly the hospitality industry. AKC licensed dog shows. Conformation and obedience championship points competitions. Only dogs entered in show allowed on grounds. 9 am to 5 pm. Annual Self Guided Garden Tour

The City of Placerville Community Pride Committee presents the fourth year of this event. Twelve unique and picturesque privately owned gardens can be viewed on this self-guided tour. The selection committee has worked to bring participants a wide variety of garden types from roses and perennials to oriental, organic, and alpine gardens. 10 am to 5 pm. Talent Extravaganza

May 1-2, 2004
Imagination Theater is showcasing this area's extraordinary youth and young adult talent of singers, dancers, musicians, actors and performing groups ages 8 to 25. Third Saturday Night ArtWalk on Placerville's Historic Main St. from 6 to 9 pm. May 15th. Call (530) 672-3436.

Placerville Certified Farmer's Market is open the Saturday before Mother's Day and continues each Saturday through mid-October. Top quality fresh fruits and vegetables, fresh baked breads, nursery items, honey, eggs, flowers and more. Ivy House parking lot.

Placerville Speedway. There are races every Saturday of each month. Bring out your family and friends to the speedway to have a nice evening of fun. Gates open at 5 pm. Placerville Speedway, 100 Placerville Drive. Adults $16, students $11 and children $4. Call (530) 626-3680 for more information.

Community Concert Membership Drive
El Dorado County Community Concert Association Membership Subscription Drive for 2004/2005. May 3-8. This coming year includes five concerts and one bonus concert. 10 am to 4 pm. Cary House Hotel Lobby, 300 Main St., Placerville. Season Subscription $45. For information call (530) 622-4218.

24th Annual Pride and Joy Diaper Bail

Shakespeare Club Fashion Show and Lunch
Placerville Shakespeare Club "Hollywood and the Stars" Fashion Show and Luncheon - May 26th. Social Hour at 11 am. Lunch at noon, and the fashion show begins at 1 pm. 2940 Bedford Ave., Placerville. Summer Solstice - June 19, 2004
Eighteen El Dorado wineries will celebrate Summer Solstice by keeping their tasting rooms open late on Saturday the 19th. From 5 to 8 pm guests will enjoy complimentary wine samples, light fare and a cool summer's eve. For more information go to www.eldoradowines.org.

Sacramento River Cats vs. Tacoma Rainiers

Coloma Fest - June 12, 2004.
