Blueberry Fest on Apple Hill

Bolsters Hilltop Ranch,
2000 Larsen Drive, Camino.

This annual event is always fun, with pick-your-own blueberries, wine tasting, blueberry desserts, crafters, wood-barbecued tritip and turkey sandwiches and plenty of good music.  While you picnic or laze on the grass, the "Blueberry Pickers", a bluegrass band, will be strumming and fiddling for your listening pleasure.  For information call 530-644-2230.


Fresh Food at Farmers' Markets

The Placerville Farmers' Market at the Ivy House Parking Lot (east end of Placerville's Historic Main Street, corner of Cedar Ravine and Main) is open every Saturday through mid-October, 8am to noon.  Lots of fresh fruits and veggies, breads, flowers, eggs, etc. as well as mouth-watering strawberries and cherries.  Click edc-certifiedfarmersmarkets.org..

Music & Microbrews at 3rd Annual Brewfest
Jazz Band
June 28, 6PM - 9PM on Historic Main Street in Placerville.

This is a don't-miss event.  Brew-stroll down the street and stop in at various merchant locations for microbrew beer tasting and snacks. Junior Morrow and his band (blues), Ron Bombardier & the Bayou Band (rhythm & blues, Zydeco and Cajun dance music), and Tony Windle (smooth jazz) will lighten your hearts and set your feet to dancing. Tickets, available at River City Bank, The Wine Smith, and Hangtown Brewery, are $20.00 each if purchased in advance. Don't wait. There's only a limited supply! The price rises to $25.00 the day of the event. For ticket info, call (530) 672-3436. 


Ghost Mountain Ranch

This 325-acre membership resort in Pollock Pines has recently reopened under new ownership and management.  The campground (for members only) has 150 RV campsites, 100+ tent campsites, 12 rental cabins and a full sized Ranch house for family reunions and corporate getaways.  There's plenty to do for all ages.

The public can enjoy the Ghost Town, with its restaurant, bar, ice cream parlor and general store, as well as trail rides through beautiful scenery.

June 28 and 29. American Civil War Association Reenactment

Coloma Fest
June 7. Go back in time and have a ball during the Coloma Fest and California Heritage Days at the Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park. Living history, period trades and crafts.  Call 530-295-2170 for information.

54th Annual Wagon Train
June 14-21. The pioneer wagons start their Sierra journey on June 14.  Want to join them?  Visit http://www.hwy50wagontrain.com/index.htm for itinerary, registration, etc.  Period costumes required.

No Wagon Train Parade in Placerville this year but there's one in Pollock Pines at 3pm on June 20.  The wagons are due in Placerville at 2pm June 21. From there, they'll roll on to the Fairgrounds for Wagon Train Saturday Nite, with music, dancing, food etc. Hosted by the Highway 50 Association and the El Dorado Outlaws. Pre-sale event tickets available at the Chamber of Commerce, 542 Main Street, Placerville and at other locations (see "Itinerary" at above website). 

The One and Only
El Dorado County Fair

June 12-15. Family Fun, entertainment, food, rides, exhibits, etc.
Check out all the discounts and the Gold Package Season Pass at http://www.eldoradocountyfair.org/  If you miss this "Beef at the Beach" fest, you'll be beefing all the rest of the long, hot summer.


El Dorado Wineries Await your Visit

There's NO Fairplay Wine Festival this year, but plenty of wine events, including wine tasting and judging at the Fair (see EDWA website above), Jazz at Firefall, etc. etc..

Coming in July
From now till October, there's Jazz or blues in Placerville's Fountain Plaza (just behind the Cary House Hotel) every Saturday. Click www.placerville-downtown.org While there, stop at Dedrick's Main Street Cheese for great cheeses and breads. Call 530-344-8282, www.dedrickscheese.com,.

Try a Sunday brunch at the Sierra Nevada House in Coloma (530) 626-8096). Hiss and boo or applaud the actors at one of the Coloma Theatre's melodramas (www.oldecolomatheatre.com, 530-626-5282).
