Julie Clark's T28
October 5, 9am-4pm
Only one hundred years ago, in 1903, Orville and Wilbur Wright launched their tiny plane and now there's no end to our travel, even through space. You won't want to miss the exciting happenings at Placerville Airport during the county's Centennial Celebration of Flight.

The sky and the tarmac will be filled with wonderful old craft. Julie Clark of American Aerobatics, Inc. will be flying her T28. There will be many planes in the air throughout the day. See WWII planes such as a B-25 Mitchell and a P 51 Mustang. Marvel at classic and antique civilian aircraft such as the Lockheed Electra and the Howard DGA (the Lear Jets of their day). Be amazed at the experimental home-built airplanes that flying enthusiasts have dreamed up. This is a fun event for the whole family.

Tickets are limited, so purchase early. Adults: $10, children: $5, under five years old: FREE.

For tickets and information, visit the El Dorado County Chamber of Commerce at 542 Main Street, Placerville. Open Mon-Fri 9 am to 5 pm. Call 530-621-5885 or toll-free, 1-800-457-6279.

Apples, Apples Everywhere

Apples Although some Apple Hill® growers are open all year and others are active in spring and summer, the official Apple Hill® season starts on Labor Day weekend, when apples are abundant. As well as quantities of fruit, there are lots of fun activities for kids and adults. The season continues through October, when you'll find pumpkins and other items, and runs until Christmas trees are sold out in late December.

As Apple Hill® grows ever more popular, parking and vehicle travel on narrow roads can be difficult at times. This year, park your car and travel in comfort on the Apple Hill Express. For details, and the schedule, call 530-642-5383 or toll-free 888-246-2877.

To see Apple Hill® maps, growers' lists, an events calendar etc., pick up a copy of Apple Hill's 2003-04 guide, the Cider Press at any of the Apple Hill® sites or at the El Dorado Chamber of Commerce, 542 Main Street, Placerville.

To order copies of the Cider Press, write to Apple Hill Growers, P.O. Box 494, Camino, CA 95709 and include your address along with $1.00 per copy to cover postage costs.

For more information, visit http://www.applehill.com/ or call the Apple Hill® Hotline, 530-644-7692.
