DORADO COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS
Located just off Highway 50 near Placerville, the El
Dorado County Fairgrounds is host to year round recreational
activities. Our theme is always FUN, and the FUN begins
the third week in June with the annual County Fair and its
traditional 4-H and FFA livestock shows, exhibits that run
the gamut of human interest, brightly lit carnival rides,
the International Studebaker Wheelbarrow Races, motorized
events, musical groups to please all members of the family,
and all the food you can eat, from corn dogs to egg rolls.

Art exhibits and sales are held throughout the year at area
galleries and at the Fairgrounds. Musical and other performing
artists are included in the upcoming calendar. EDAC member
artists are showcased at the El Dorado County Libraries
in Cameron Park and Placerville, the El Dorado County Government
Center and other selected sites throughout the County.

Visit the Shingle Springs Rancheria located in the Sierra
foothills, within a broad geophysical belt known as the "Mother
Lode" country. The site is located on the north side
of Highway 50, approximately nine miles west of Placerville

Rudy Stauffer, the "llama man," began a commercial
packing business with destinations to several historic sites
in the Crystal Basin of Eldorado National Forest. These
treks, in cooperation with the USFS, were to acquaint visitors
with the Pony Express Trail, Bassi Creek Cabin, and the
Filippini Cheese Camp. These particular areas have been
designated U S Historical Preservation Sites. Rudy relates
information about the history of these sites and sometimes,
a docent accompanies the hikers to give colorful commentary
about past history and events ....
