Step back into the history of one of the
original California counties. We will take you on a tour of
the people, places and things from an earlier time. Our exhibits
cover prehistory, mining, logging, agriculture, ranching,
Victorian lifestyles, early transportation and commerce throughout
El Dorado County.
The museum houses an extensive research
facility that is open to the public by appointment on Tuesdays
from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The museum is open Wednesday through Saturdays
from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m.

Built in 1853/54, this building was originally
used in the soda pop manufacturing business. The walls of
the building are at least two feet thick, suitable for keeping
ice and soda pop manufacturing supplies cool. The building,
now owned by the El Dorado County Historical Society and operated
as a museum, is staffed by volunteers and is open to the public
on Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m.
